The photos are most easily downloaded from a desktop computer as it is easier to select multiple files for download. If you are downloading from a mobile, you can only download one shot at a time (unless you choose Desktop mode), and they end up in your Files app, where they can be saved to your Photos. If you do choose to view the gallery on a mobile in Desktop mode - scroll to the bottom of this screen to select the Desktop view.
